The Demo is done!
For real this time. This past Saturday, we had about 7-12 volunteers (depending if you count children or not) come and help get the place cleared out of all remaining debris and junk. Each work party we’ve done, I’ve been amazed at what God is able to do with a weak ‘yes’.
My wife dropped me off at 9 am, right as Charles was walking by. He was a new neighbor looking for work. I told him that we had plenty of work, but no money to pay him. For some reason, he stayed around as I explained the project and the Gospel. He stood around listening as I began to pull up the remaining floor. Eventually he wanted to show me a better way to do it, so we began working shoulder to shoulder. All the while I’m confessing how much I love Jesus and how amazing His love is.
Friends start to appear for the work day and the proclamation continues. We stop what we’re doing and pray for Charles. Ministry is again breaking out in the midst of a broken room. Charles confesses to feeling the Presence of God and His Peace. He isn’t ready to fully surrender yet as he’s scared he won’t be able to follow through on the commitment, but I believe his life is forever marked.
This is what it’s all about
It’s been almost a year since we sold our home. My relationship with Christ is not the same. It just isn’t. I wish I had better words to explain how freaking REAL Jesus is to me. Not that He wasn’t before, but time and time again I’ve seen Him literally show up and DO STUFF. He meets people. For real. He’s touching lives and changing hearts, and this is the greatest miracle of all. When I pray and look up and see tears streaming down someones face, or smiles of joy, I know that God is meeting them. There is an abundance of joy in doing the Father’s will.
I feel like we’re at the very beginning of a very long journey. I know there will be tougher times ahead, but I want to celebrate what God has done to get us to here. Phase 1 of the demo is done. The house is cleared of all debris and junk. We now wait for funds to pay electricians and plumbers and for windows. It’s in His hands as this is His project. We are simply blessed to be part of this journey with Him. [ps~ giving is at www.damascusway.com]
