Be Mine

To: You

From: Jesus

and the Children will lead them…

We had a wonderful time sharing the Love of Jesus with our neighbors, and this year the neighborhood children and parents led the way!  We had a little over a dozen neighbors gather with us for tacos and fellowship.  Most were friends from the neighborhood and about half were young men and women we’ve been working with for the past 2-3 years.

After a time of fellowship and prayer, we gathered roses, chocolates and Valentines from Jesus and split in to groups throughout the Northside neighborhood.  The mission was to make people smile in the Name of Jesus and it was an amazing success.  Our group was able to pray with and bless many neighbors and it was so encouraging to me to see our 10-14 year olds get the spirit and begin handing out flowers and offering to pray with their peers and adults.  I was also impressed with some of the parents of our youth joining in and catching a vision for what sharing Christ’s love can look like.

More than 1 neighbor exclaimed “you made my week!”

Outreach is designed to bless our neighbors and remind them of God’s love.  A wonderful bi-product of obeying the Great Commission is we get to experience the JOY of the Holy Spirit that is only felt through simple acts of obedience.  A big prayer of my heart is to experience this joy in the context of holistic ministry, including kids and their parents within our neighborhood.

We’re all broken.  In God’s mercy, He can often allow our children to remind us of what is good and necessary.  If we are humble, children can lead the way.  This Valentines, kids led the way in spreading the knowledge of the Lord to our neighbors and this makes me happy!

Isaiah 11: The wolf will live with the lamb, the leopard will lie down with the goat, the calf and the lion and the yearlinga together; and a little child will lead themThey will neither harm nor destroy on all my holy mountain, for the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the Lord as the waters cover the sea.
